ZJLA Schedule
Zimet Jewish Learning Adventure (ZJLA) meets on Sunday mornings (10am - 12:30pm), September through May, except on 3-day weekends/national holidays (approximately 28 sessions total).
The first ZJLA school day of 2026 will be Sunday, September 27th in the CEHV Sukkah!
Earlier in September, join CEHV for special Children's Services during the High Holidays: Rosh Hashanah on Saturday September 12th and Yom Kippur on Monday, September 21st.
About our ZJLA Curriculum and Culture
A typical ZJLA Sunday includes an all-ages assembly with singing and t’fillah (prayer), specialized Hebrew aleph-bet language lessons by age, and seasonal Jewish holiday celebrations with hands-on creative art and cooking projects and family-inclusive rituals.
Guided by our passionate Education Team, ZJLA students build foundational Hebrew language skills, practice core Jewish values and traditions of tikkun olam (healing the world), tzedakah (doing good deeds for the wellbeing of others), kavod (“respect” for everyone), and engaging in critical thinking and asking questions. ZJLA’s social environment encourages ZJLA students to build meaningful relationships with other Jewish children (and Jewish families), and through exposure to multi-cultural Jewish traditions, ZJLA students connect more deeply with their own unique Jewish identity.
For more details about our Hebrew language learning objectives by age, check out the chart below!
Family Engagement
ZJLA regularly offers hands-on workshops, special events, and Shabbat services throughout the school year for the whole family; families are invited to explore Jewish practices, values and questions alongside their children and outside of the classroom into everyday life.
B’Mitzvah Course: Becoming a Jewish Adult (for 10-14 year olds)
CEHV B’Mitzvah preparation course is integrated into the ZJLA Sunday curriculum starting around 2 years before each student’s B’Mitzvah ceremony. The course depends on the Hebrew language skills and prayer knowledge that students build cumulatively with ZJLA pre K through 5th grade curriculum. In addition to the 2-year B’Mitzvah cohort learning experience with ZJLA, B’Mitzvah students will meet regularly with CEHV clergy and special Hebrew tutors for 1:1 guidance with Torah chanting and prayer leadership, creating a d’var Torah speech or creative learning project, and fulfilling the tzedakah community service commitment.
