As part of a long-term commitment to Yom HaShoah observance, over the course of the next few years, CEHV will expand our study and remembrance of victims of the Holocaust. Our observance this year will recognize and honor Jewish women and girls in the Nazi Resistance movement.
The program will be aired twice on Facebook Live and CEHV.org:Saturday, April 10 at 7:30pm and Sunday, April 11 at 4pm.
Blessings and music by Rabbi Yael and Cantorial Soloist Alex will open and close our observance. Farrell & Cara Levine-Brenner are recipients of the Spector/Warren Fellowship for Future Educators of the Holocaust through Syracuse University and the Holocaust Museum Houston and have both produced original scholarship in the field of Holocaust and Genocide studies. They will be sharing the experiences and incalculable impact of Jewish women and girls who "passed" as Aryan and bravely served in the resistance as couriers. Their stories paint a picture of shifting ideas of race that demand to be understood within our contemporary framework.
