Congregation Emanuel of Hudson Valley Welcomes New Clergy Member

Congregation Emanuel is pleased to announce the appointment of Cantor Josée Wolff, D,Min. to work with Rabbi Yael Romer and Cantor Robert Cohen in conducting services on the second and fourth Sabbaths of each month. The congregation and community is invited to meet and welcome Cantor Josée.

According to Arnie Zepel, our president, “adding Cantor Josée to our spiritual “team” enables us to expand the depth, excitement and possibility of our prayer experience. On those weeks when Rabbi Yael is out of town, Cantor Josée will be leading services. Cantor Bob will continue to provide musical support as well,” Zepel said.

Cantor Josée has an extensive religious education having received her Doctorate of Ministry and Cantorial Ordination from Hebrew Union College, and a degree in flute from the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, Netherlands. She has over 25 years of experience in congregational, organizational and educational settings. She is an internationally known teacher of cantors and synagogue musicians and is currently on the faculty of the Abraham Geiger Kolleg (college) in Berlin, Germany and the Hebrew Union College, Debbie Friedman School of Sacred Music in New York City. In addition, Cantor Josée is an accomplished soloist of Jewish Baroque Music who has performed in all parts of the world including Germany, Israel, Netherland (where she was born) and Curacao.

She is a published writer, having contributed in over eleven selected Jewish publications while also fluent in five languages (Dutch, English, Hebrew, French and German)
