Congregation Emanuel of the Hudson Valley will again be the site of the second annual Christmas Feast for families in Kingston and the surrounding area who would not otherwise be able to enjoy a special Christmas meal. The feast will take place from noon to 3:00 pm in the social hall of the synagogue, located at 243 Albany Avenue in Kingston.
The free dinner is being sponsored by the synagogues Social Action Committee and Family of Woodstock and coordinated by Joy Weinberg, chair of the committee.
“We plan to serve an anticipated 250 guests a warm meal of turkey/stuffing/cranberry sauce, smoked salmon, rice and beans, along with multiple side dishes of corn, green beans, roasted potatoes, sweet potatoes, bread and rolls, desserts of pumpkin and apple pies,” Ms Weinberg said. “Many local businesses, including Bread Alone, Boices Dairy, Hannaford, Health and Nutrition Center, are providing food donations.” Local professional musicians will be entertaining attendees with upbeat holiday music. People’s Place is donating dozens of gifts for the children. Santa Claus will also make an appearance at the temple, and great door prizes for men and women will be given away.
“What is most meaningful is there will be an abundant helping of kindness and holiday spirit,” Ms Weinberg said.
