I am excited to be stepping into the role of President of CEHV for the coming year. I feel so fortunate that Arnie Zepel will remain on the Board to ensure a smooth transition and I want to thank him for the great work he has done over the last two years.
This is an exciting time for CEHV as we welcome new families and watch the Hudson Valley once again become a destination for people looking for a great quality of life. My husband and I and our (then) 6 month old daughter relocated here for his job in 2014, and never expected to love it as much as we do. We know many young families like ours who—if we can get them in the door—will be the next chapter in the amazing history of this temple.
As some of you know, I have been a Development Officer in Higher Education for over 10 years. My job has included building a vision for special projects, running campaigns, and working with donors on major gifts. I have stepped back from that work to raise our 3 children- Mia (6), Lena (3) and Lucas (6 months).
Over the last year, as a member of the Congregation Emanuel Board, I launched a strategic planning committee and conducted interviews with individuals and couples who represent a cross-section of our Congregation. From those interviews the committee has determined a set of strategic goals which we will use to build our vision for the future of our shul. It will be my goal as President to help us focus on what makes the experience at Congregation Emanuel so special and ensure that people will share that experience and want to join us. I look forward to working with all of you on this vision.
